Tiger Woods wins U.S. Open 2008 in Playoff sudden-death
Posted In: Golf by admin
It all came down to Tiger Woods vs. Rocco Mediate in the 18-hole playoff of the U.S. Open 2008 tournament, but it was not enough. Tiger Woods had a chance to tie Rocco on the 15th hole but failed to make his birdie put. On the 16th, Tiger’s long put stopped right before the hole so he knocked it in for a par, still trailing by one stroke. Both Tiger and Rocco pared the 17th hole. Tiger birdied hole 18 while Rocco got a par.
Sudden death…
Tiger Woods birdies the first hole and Rocco Mediate fails to follow.

“The 19th Hole is a common name for coffee shops and watering holes in many golf courses that dot the U.S., but in the sudden death playoff of the 2008 U.S. Golf Open, it has a new meaning.”
Year ago, our band played at, you guessed it, The 19th Hole, which was a bar and grill in a golf course in Texas. This 19th hole was a bit on the “dive” side. I’m sure that there are better places in this world who share the same name.
Amazing, though. You’ve got to hand it to Tiger.
Can you believe it? He almost always seems to be able to pull that rabbit out of the hat. Tiger has brought new life to golf for me.
